Between 2010 and 2015, EAAF collaborated with Vietnamese authorities to identify soldiers killed during the war with the United States. In this context, it provided training to forensic specialists from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (NIFM), under the Ministry of Health, and its counterpart in the Vietnamese Armed Forces, specifically tasked with searching for and identifying the Vietnamese killed in the war. EAAF also hosted Vietnamese forensic experts in Buenos Aires for intensive training in genetics and forensic anthropology. In addition, it provided consulting on the evaluation and coordination of five genetics laboratories designated to perform the genetic analysis of remains buried in military cemeteries throughout Vietnam. Part of this work included the preparation of the “Practical Guide for the Recovery and Analysis of Skeletal Remains of War Martyrs in Vietnam.”
