Sudan

This desert region has been the site of clashes between nomadic groups and farmers living in the area. The International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur was established in 2003 and 2004 to investigate human rights violations, to determine whether acts of genocide had been committed, and to identify those presumably responsible. EAAF assisted with these investigations and made recommendations for future forensic work. Because the findings could serve as evidence in potential trials by the International Criminal Court, this report was kept confidential.
