At the request of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), EAAF carried out in 2005 an assessment of forensic capabilities in conflict zones in the north of the country, where a civil war raged from 1983 to 2009, leaving thousands dead.
In 2018 and 2019, EAAF conducted advisory missions at the request of the Office on Missing Persons and the ICRC to assist with strategies for locating people who went missing during the war.
